The 29th Annual EAU Congress is an undertaking of the European Association of Urology. Many of its Offices, Sections and Departments are involved in the organisation of this event, as well as several independent organisations. The 15th International EAUN Meeting is a meeting for urology nurses held in conjunction with the 29th Annual EAU Congress, and is organised by the European Association of Urology Nurses.
The EAU is a non-profit organisation which supports medical professionals working in the field of urology through many of its scientific, professional, educational and awareness-building initiatives.
Since 1972, the EAU has been organising scientific events, and today, many of these events are amongst the world’s most innovative and prestigious urology meetings.
Throughout the past, the EAU has been committed to the development of urological community and today the EAU represent more than 16,000 medical professionals working in Europe and beyond its borders.
The European School of Urology is the EAU Education Office, responsible for organising a wide range of education and training activities for European and internationally-based urologists. The ESU faculty consists of Europe’s top experts, and the courses always meet the highest standards of international education.
During the Congress, the ESU will organise nearly 40 courses and hands-on-training sessions for professional development and published the material from all these courses on an ESU Course CD, available free of charge for all the delegates.
European Urology, the official journal of the EAU, has been a respected urological forum for over 20 years and is currently read by more than 10,000 urologists across the globe. With an impact factor of 8.493 the Platinum Journal remains the leading scientific publication in the field of urology.
To keep up with the rapidly evolving world of medicine, technology and surgical techniques, European Urology is constantly updating and innovating its features and layout in order to provide the best clinical guidance, research and education for urologists across Europe and the world. EAU Congress Abstracts are published as European Urology Supplements and all congress delegates can collect a CD free of charge.
The EAUN represents more than 2,300 nurses, all working in urological care. It is a lively, dynamic organisation with a focus on the importance of excellent urological nursing, especially for the patient. The latest developments in the nurses’ fields of interest are discussed at the International EAUN Meeting, which is held in conjunction with the Annual EAU Congress.
Amongst others, the EAUN aims to foster the highest standards of urological nursing care throughout Europe, encourage urology research undertaken by nurses and enable the broadcasting of its results and to promote the exchange of experience and good practice between its members.
The association is active in working out and promoting standards for training and practice for European urological nurses and collaborating with other organisations in the field of urology, particularly the European Association of Urology.
The European Board of Urology (EBU) is an independent organisation which operates as an section of the UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists). The EBU is charged with regulatory matters and is responsible for evaluation and accreditation of educational and scientific activities in the field of urology organised in Europe.
EBU’s core activities include: the European Board Examinations in Urology (FEBU), In-Service Assessment, as well as Certification of Sub-Specialty Centres and Residency Training Programmes in Urology.
During the Congress the EBU Corner will be set up in the EAU Square in the exhibition area.
EU-ACME stands for European Urology - Accredited Continuing Medical Education. This initiative was launched by the EAU and the EBU in order to bring together education and accreditation processes and create a common registry. EU-ACME Committee provides urologists with a platform for a transparent across-the-border registry of CME credits.
During the Congress, information about the EU-ACME programme, CME/CPD credit points, membership status and benefits, accredited CME activities and national CME credits systems can be obtained at the EU-ACME Desk in the registration area.
